Reports from Ghanaosccernet indicate that Emmanuel Yeboah, the promising young talent from CFR Cluj, may depart from the club this summer as an offer from a Major League Soccer (MLS) team has been made.
The 20-year-old Ghanaian initially joined CFR Cluj’s second team in March 2022. However, due to a shortage of strikers in the first team, Yeboah swiftly made his way into the senior squad and made an impressive impact.
Several MLS clubs have taken notice of Yeboah’s performances, with the Montreal Impact showing the most interest. They have submitted a concrete offer of €2.5 million for the young footballer and are prepared to offer him a salary of €700,000.
Yeboah’s noteworthy performances in the Africa Cup of Nations U23 tournament, where he scored three goals and provided an assist in the group stage matches, have further raised his profile. Although Ghana narrowly missed out on qualifying for the semi-finals, Yeboah’s talent did not go unnoticed.
While multiple North American clubs are monitoring the Ghanaian striker, the Montreal Impact have emerged as the frontrunners. CFR Cluj’s president, Neluțu Varga, reportedly agrees with the proposed transfer amount and is open to negotiations. Varga also intends to retain 20% of any potential future transfer involving Yeboah.
Following the failed transfer, Yeboah experienced a dip in performance levels, failing to score a goal in 19 appearances across all competitions during the spring season.
Yeboah is currently valued at €900,000 according to Transfermarkt. As negotiations progress, it remains to be seen whether the Montreal Impact will meet CFR Cluj’s demands and secure the services of the talented young striker.
