Manchester United’s deal for number one goalkeeping target could be completed ‘tonight’

Andre Onana to Manchester United has been a short-lived saga with a deal seemingly progressing quite quickly. There has reportedly been a breakthrough in talks with Inter Milan late last night.

On top of that, it seems that 20-year-old Japanese goalkeeper Zion Suzuki is also in talks with the Red Devils.

Tom Hopkinson, of the Mirror, has claimed that there was a breakthrough in negotiations on Thursday night for the former Ajax goalkeeper. The report states that United could have a new goalkeeper by tonight, with the player agreeing personal terms with the Red Devils and United closing in on agreeing a fee with Inter for the goalkeeper.

The Mirror’s report also claims that the length of Onana’s contract remains a discussion point. The two options are a four-year deal, with an option of a further year or a five-year deal, a final decision has yet to be made.

The fee for Onana could be £40 million which could well be a bargain with Inter Milan reportedly demanding £51 million to allow the Cameroonian to leave the San Siro. But, the 27-year-old may not be the only goalkeeper through the doors at Old Trafford.

According to the Manchester Evening News, United have held talks with the agent of the Japan under-21 international, who according to the MEN is regarded in some quarters as a ‘top talent’.

The Urawa Red Diamonds goalkeeper could be available for just £5 million this summer as United look to invest money into the goalkeeping department, something that they haven’t done properly since they signed David De Gea back in 2011.

The 20-year-old goalkeeper is an Arkansas-born goalkeeper, with a passing range that has been coined as ‘exceptional‘. It’s easy to see why United are rumoured to be interested in the exciting Japanese under-21 international.
