NPP Still Calls for Election of MMDCEs for Better Accountability Structure-Yaw Boabeng

The Communications Director of the NPP, Yaw Boabeng Asamoah has stated that electing Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) is an effective accountability and transparency structure to enhance decentralisation therefore the NPP still stands for the elections of MMDCES.

The NPP Communications Director who said this, indicated that the move would significantly consolidate Ghana’s democratic gains as a beacon of peace and development.

Speaking at a press conference at the party headquaters in Accra, the NPP expected to give room for the amendments of the 1992 constitution to enable Ghanaians elect MMDCEs into office on political party basis through universal adult suffrage.

Mr. Boabeng stressed that it wasn’t  easy for president, Akufo Addo to nominate the MMDCEs, so electing them should be encouraged.
Moreover electing the MMDCEs will ease the heavy burden on the presidency in addressing grievances from the grassroots as such people will deal directly with their MMDCEs to have their problems resolved since they voted them to power.

He further called on all assembly members to engage with the nominees to see how best they can work together before they vote.
