The Kasoa Police Divisional Command in collaboration with the Central Regional Command in a swoop today has arrested 340 suspected criminals to be involved in cybercrime activities.
The operation dubbed “operation storm Kasoa”, according to the police is part of efforts to clamp down on criminals in the area.
The majority of the suspects arrested were Nigerians including five females.
Areas including Budumburam, Ofaakor, Adade, Akweley, and CP.
Addressing the press, DCOP Habiba Twumasi Sarpong, said a total of 245 laptops, 142 assorted mobile phones, and 6 Nigerian passports were retrieved.
She said, nine out of the suspects were in possession of a substance suspected to be Indian herb.
As part of its efforts, she urged the public to assist the police about suspicious criminals around.
The suspects, she said will be screened and those found culpable will be arraigned before court.
DCOP Habbiba Twumasi Sarpong the Regional police commander, however, charges people not to hide information about criminals but rather to alert the police to help deal with these criminal activities in our various communities.
